1859 beams, True 8 X 8 posts from original LH (hand-hewn axe marks on right)...Side note: On Kitty Hawk off Vietnam, flight surgeon's advice for resting in Ready Room: Imagine a scene pleasant to you. This was it for me. And still is. Many memories of gatherings.

70 Water pumps today
Aug 2006. Same manual pitcher pump, possibly from 1909: use as backup (no conditioning). Gasoline engine driven pump: cuts off automatically when pressure hits a certain limit. After about 5 flushes, nothing. Go outside. Pull the cord.
71 AFD in A-frame outhouse
C) 1965+? (Jack Sheridan's favorite picture) Explanation. Father, Art Deam, designed new LH. Supervised construdtion for 9 weeks in Aug-Sep 1962. Rheumatoid arthritis prevented his finishing interior as planned in following spring. We 3 offspring started using it empty anyway with limited vacation time (foreign service in Orient, on carrier in Western Pacific - not 1964, in SE Asia then). First, had open chair on dunes, Then these 2 LH dorrs hinged at top (notice lock on side of door). Had family contest guessing when a larger pipe in ground would fill up. Eric's award is in tower today. Eventually got indoor plumbing.
72 Tower stairs
Same. Untouched. Upstairs. Use kerosene lights. Have a small solar panel on a pole outside. Charges a car battery (12v DC). Charges our cell phone, and operates 3 bedroom lites downstairs (5 & 8 watts each)

From 1859 LH. Glued. Original knobs & locks. Mar's 1984 poster (drugstore/SDHS museum?) Massive stroke 4 years later. Still paints, left-handed.
74 Today's ceiling
Overhead beam above living room had been under 1859 Lighthouse. Circular mark of piling & its bolt hole. Don't understand the 1" cutout (for a "1 ft washer plate"?...Mortise & tenon... And a few hats. Started hanging hats on nails. Chain reaction. About 400 hats now.

C) 1942 family challenge of OxBow Sluggers. WWII first news of a vehicle that could go off road on sand. Parents intrigued with potential of getting to the LH by Jeep. ID people....OxBow burial stone tradition at end of year....50 years later (1992) commemorative challenge. Note shirts. ID people and Norton "ringers" (especially Bud)
76 Art & T Reunion, 1999
26 of 27 descendents. Came from Seattle to CT, FL/TX to MI. Italy too. Ed's in red, Mar Severt's in green. Norm's in blue... Volleyball game at Lagoon. (Favorite picture of Ed.)

C) Stationery on left made by AFD in 1952. "A.F.D. 1962" shows on right. (Distribute some) . Tornado was a major downer for Art & T. Just retired, looking forward to more time to use. Tornado took all 4 buildings. Access probems delayed reconstruction for 6 years while wood decayed. Parents stayed overnight at new "LH" only once. Art fell downhill at night. Unable thereafter....These designs (simplified by Mar) were reused on marble gravestone on ground in Douglas cemetery (new)...Design was also simplified on a sweatshirt by me (Show it).
